Abstract

Nowadays a lot of literature data on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is accumulated at various functional and pathological conditions of the human organism. HRV analysis has the greatest value in cardiology. HRV decreases with an increasing the severity of the disease and increases with favorable dynamics of the disease. The risk of adverse patients’ outcomes (myocardial infarction, sudden death) increases considerably when HRV is low. There is a clear relationship between the state of autonomic nervous system (ANS) and mortality from cardiovascular diseases. This relationship is realized through a high susceptibility to life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias in patients with disorders of ANS. The relationship between autonomic regulation and clinical course of atrial fibrillation / atrial flutter (AF), which is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, is insufficiently studied. The frequency of hospitalizations because of this kind of arrhythmia is about 40% of the total number of cardiac rhythm disturbances hospitalizations. The aim of this research was to study indicators of cardiac rhythm in patients with paroxysmal and persistent AF.
