Keywords:
antenatal alcohol action, children, behavior and neurological disorders
Abstract
This review summarizes the literature data on the behavioral and neurological disorders induced by the antenatal alcohol administration. Prenatal exposure to alcohol leads to the multiple, severe and long-term (often irreversible) behavioral and neurological disorders in humans and animals that depend on the dose and timing of application. The disorders are induced by ethanol and its metabolite acetaldehyde profound damage of the nervous system at the cellular and molecular level.
