EVIDENCE BASED PREVENTION IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE: SCREENING TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
The aim of the study was to characterize the summaries of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendations that have been published in 1996-2012 and devoted to screening technologies as well as to systematize them basing on grades of evidence. The analysis, synthesis, expert appreciation, and statistical methods have been used.
Results. 96 recommendations USPSTF on screens (71 for adults, 25 for children and adolescents) included 119 summaries that have been assigned with grades of evidence: a third of them has shown net benefit (grades А, В), another third “ insufficient evidences (I statement), and more than in quarter of summaries screenings have been not recommended (grade D). Conclusion: further studying of the USPSTF recommendations is worthwhile.
