TREATMENT OF HAIRY CELL LEUKEMIA
Abstract
The article presents the data on clinical picture of hairy cell leukemia, modern diagnostic tests of great importance for monitoring and therapy, including obligatory immunophenotyping and trepanobiopsy with immunohistochemical examination/ Detection of BRAF-V600E mutation is given in the article as well. The article describes modern approach to treatment of hairy cell leukemia, including the use of purine nucleoside analogues-pentostatin and cladribin, allowing to achieve remission for more than 10 years in 805 of patients with average rate of event-free survival. The article gives a hairy cell leukemia case with the results of diagnostic tests and treatment results, possible outcomes of the disease and recommendations on further therapeutic approach.
